Initiate yourself to the art of wine tasting in the Dordogne valley

Direction Château Feely, nestled on a Saussignac hillside on the Bergerac Wine Route. We chose this estate for its biodynamic vineyard and organic wine production. Let's go for a new oenological experience!

Discover the magic world of wine on a rich and unique soil

After our unusual scooter ride in the heart of the vineyards we really wanted to taste these Bergerac wines!
On arrival at Domaine Feely with my friends, Caro, the owner of the place welcomes us warmly. A soothing and inspiring atmosphere exudes from this enchanting setting...

The winemaker explains her and her husband's journey to save this 7 hectares estate in 2005. These two oenology enthusiasts had an ambition to produce great wines in connection with nature and biodynamic living soil. Our host shares his feeling of joy and pride in having achieved the dream of a lifetime...

Did you know? In 2019 Château Feely won a gold trophy at the first national wine tourism contest.
Several types of visit are possible: from one hour to five days, including the new educational tour. Arriving mid-afternoon, we chose the "visite dégustation", one hour, including a guided tour of the vineyard and tasting of 3 wines for 10€.

Advice! Telephone before, to be sure to be welcomed!

During this discovery tour, we become aware of the incredible biodiversity of the vineyard and the knowledge needed to master the extraordinary powers of nature. Clover, an excellent nitrogen fixator, and wild orchids can be seen, a sign of healthy, living soil. Beneficial insects such as bees replace insecticides. Organic natural teas replace synthetic chemical fungicides. Caro says. It is true that one feels connected to nature during this visit. A place that inspires calm and serenity...

Close your eyes and enjoy the fragrance of an exeptional wine

We are invited into the tasting room. I must admit that we were eager to taste these biodynamic and natural locally produced wines!
"Drinking wine from the vineyard around you means seeing, feeling, tasting and sensing the land..."
We sit in a friendly setting around a wooden table. In front of us are beautiful glasses stamped Vins de Bergerac Duras to use for this introduction to the art of tasting.
We observe the clarity, colour and brilliance of the wine but also its viscosity by spinning the liquid around the curb of the glass.

At that moment, I imagine myself to be a true professional taster!
Next is "the olfactory examination"! We have two noses... Yes, I am serious: the first nose with the glass at rest and the 2nd nose after agitation.
We have fun in turn to guess the aromas. Not an easy exercise... but fun!
Last and not least: our taste buds are (finally) put to into action. Firstly, the techniques of tasting anre explained. The taste sensations are there! We taste wines with names filled with promise...
"Sincérité", a fresh white wine with lemon-like aromas. "La Source", a dry red wine without sulphites. "Grâce", a complex, rich wine with a hint of mint. My favourite!
Caution... it's easy to get drunk on these exceptional wines with very particular aromas...

This very informative experience is above all a meeting and a discovery full of inspiration... Happy to go home with great memories and... Excellent wines to share without moderation!

GOOD TO KNOW!

Since 2014, all parcels of this vineyard are harvested by hand, which is better for the quality of the wine.
It is also possible to have lunch on site with food/wine pairing, or hikes for several days or to relax in one of the luxury eco-gîtes.

Alcohol abuse is dangerous for your health, consume with moderation.
