A sunny stroll through Marseille with Matthieu Gamet

Marseille is changing, Marseille is evolving... And nobody is better placed to tell us about it than Matthieu Gamet, director of Kulte and the very recently appointed chairman of the Mediterranean House of Fashion Crafts (MMMM). We asked him to tell us about the city and his favourite haunts.

Today, there’s places worth visiting in very different parts of Marseille. Here are his recommendations, neighbourhood by neighbourhood.

The Haussman-style architecture in the Rue de la République is coming back to life:

The working class Noailles neighbourhood is again creating a buzz. Head for Rue d’Aubagne.

Saint-Victor is where it’s at!

The Vieux Port comes to life on the Rive Neuve

Change is in the air in Castellane and along the Rue Saint-Jacques

Malmousque is still a dream neaighbourghood...

The new Docks area and Quai de la Tourette are worth a visit

But who is Matthieu Gamet?

Made in Marseille. Matthieu Gamet began his career as an editor at culture magazines. Back in Marseille, after he lived in London, he bought Kulte, developed a range of collaborations, opened more than ten stores in France and around the world and, more recently, a concept store in Marseille called Rive Droite, which includes a music studio. He has just been appointed chairman of the Mediterranean House of Fashion Crafts (MMMM). (External link)
