Romantic Bars in Paris

It’s not for nothing that Paris (External link) is called the city of love and there are plenty of special places for couples to have a fabulous evening together! Here are some of the ultimate romantic bars in the city.

Luxurious Class

The Night Flight bar at the Hotel Bachaumont (External link) in the district of Montorgueil is classy and gorgeous. Developed by the Exercise Masters Experimental Group, with tones of velvet and black marble, this is a place to sink into the comfy chairs and enjoy the inspired elixirs in sumptuous luxury.

While you may prefer to look into your partner’s eyes for the rest of the night, a good panoramic view of the outside doesn’t hurt either. Decor in grey taupe and caramel colours, rounded-shaped armchairs and tables like the bubble-shaped ceiling light, all designed by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, the Ciel de Paris (External link) in the Montparnasse Tower, is the perfect setting to grab an aperitif or a night cap. Getting whisked up 56 storeys is half the fun, too, of getting there.

Bar 228
Bar 228 at Le Meurice Paris

Entering Bar 228 (External link) , a traditionalist’s cocktail bar, in the Hotel Meurice, is like stepping back in time. Bring your partner here and settle down in the deep leather armchairs for endless conversations over small mahogany tables. With their nightly live jazz and their divine cocktails (of which you’re going to have a hard time choosing from!), Bar 228 is a place for those in search of old-world elegance and understated charm.

Summer Lovin’

Mama Shelter Paris
Mama Shelter Paris

The very hip and trendy Mama Shelter Bar (External link) at the Philippe Starck designed Mama Shelter Hotel is popular with locals and always buzzing. Featuring soft string lighting and whimsical, warm colors, the ambiance is chic but decidedly laid back. Dine al fresco on the terrace where there’s a calm and peaceful atmosphere and you can watch the stars as you swing in a hammock and enjoy this little bit of urban paradise.

Enjoy al fresco drinks and dancing at Monsieur Bleu (External link) at the iconic Palais de Tokyo in the summer months only. Opposite the Eiffel Tower each Wednesday, Thursday and Friday until 2am it feels as if you’re in St Tropez instead of the centre of Paris.

Skip waiting in line for the Eiffel Tower and instead, admire it from a cozy place, with an artisanal cocktail in hand. Located in the cool Marais district, Le Perchoir (External link) affords some of the best views in the city, of the Eiffel Tower and of the classic Parisian rooftops. With top DJs playing into the night, show off your dance moves in this sprawling, leafy 6th-floor terrace. If the view doesn't warm your chéri/e's heart, then enjoying one of their excellent cocktails cozied up in trendy, seasonal environments most certainly will.

Gorgeous Gardens and Secret Bars

The purple banquettes of the bar at the plush Hotel Les Jardins du Marais (External link) are alluring but it’s the gorgeous garden that really makes this a memorable place to enjoy a drink à deux. One of the largest private gardens in Paris, the Mediterranean colours and intimate courtyards with palm trees transport you to the romance of southern France.

For those who want to add in a little surprise element, come to the restaurant Pizza Da Vito in the Bastille district, but not for its delicious pies. Push your way through the metal door of the walk-in fridge, and climb up the second floor and voilà, you’ve made your way to The Moonshiner (External link) , one of the true speakeasy bars in Paris. Get transported to the Art Deco years of the 1930’s. The music? Think jazz, foxtrot or the sounds of an old brass band. After all, who would want to hear modern music in a speakeasy bar?
