Vignobles & Découvertes: Costières de Nîmes (Rhône Valley)

Destination: Costières de Nîmes

In the South of France, between Provence and Languedoc, lays the terroir of the young Costières de Nîmes appellation.

Certified as AOC in 1986, spreading from Nîmes to the Mediterranean Sea, it is the most southern vineyard of the Rhône Valley.

Nîmes, capital city of the Gard and gateway to the vineyard, offers plenty to discover:

  • a lovely historical center
  • majestic arenas
  • several Romans antiquities

Wine Road

Follow the Wine Road from Vauvert towards the Camargue and discover this protected area bordering the sea, lush land of birds, bulls and horses.

On the way, you will have the opportunity to visit Saint Gilles and its abbey classified as UNESCO World Heritage Site. Further North, the medieval castle of Beaucaire proudly overhangs above the Rhône.

And as you reach Sernhac and its Roman aqueduct, you are only a few minutes away from the imposing Pont du Gard.

Over these lands of unspoiled nature, meet the winegrowers of the “Costières de Nîmes – Terroir d’Accueil” and share their passion while tasting their wines.

Stop at their certified cellar or wine estate and enjoy a warm welcome. They will gladly share some good addresses, surely leading you to a few more pleasant discoveries.
