Night Life in Marseille

Marseille is France’s second biggest city. While here, I discovered that the evenings are very lively and energetic. This is especially true during the summer when the weather is warm. During my short stay I fully embraced the true Marseillais’ way of life and experience night life how they would.
Vallon des Auffes

Vallon des Auffes is a little fishing haven in the South-West of Marseille, not far from the centre. There are three restaurants and one bar, all offering a view of the sun setting behind the bridge and an opportunity to bask in the last light of the day. Locals like to gather here after work, just hanging out and watching the sunset over a few glasses of wine.

Le Repaire de la Poissonnerie

Situated on top of a hill, this bar also offers a beautiful sunset view, though a different one from Vallon des Auffes. With delicious cocktails, seafood tapas to share with a bunch of good friends while looking out towards the sea, there is simply no better way to spend an evening.

La Boîte à Sardine

As a foodie, I was so glad I found this seafood restaurant opened by a real Marseillaise, Fabien. With the freshest seafood acquired every single day, paired with a cold glass of white or Rosé wine, the dining experience at this restaurant is truly unique.
Open only on Thursday & Friday from 7.30 to 9.30.

Border line at Musée Regards de Provence

Border line’s slogan is “Party Anywhere”. You get the idea – they throw parties at atypical places such as museums, supermarkets and boats. This summer, they hosted one in Musée Regards de Provence, combining culture and entertainment into one single evening. I was lucky to have enjoyed the exhibitions in the museum till late and party at the rooftop of the museum.

R2 rooftop

To finish the night off, one of the options would be to continue the fun at R2 rooftop, on top of Les Terrasses du Port. Like many of the other venues, there is a panoramic view of the seaside to be enjoyed while the party goes on till dawn.
