Annecy by Kim Leuenberger

I had been to Annecy as a child, with family, on our way to Spain long long time ago, and I had always dreamt to go back. This picturesque little city was a dream to explore and photograph, with all its colourful buildings around the canals and the lake. It’s not called the Venice of the Alps for nothing.

Around the lake

On my first evening in Annecy, I walked all around the lake as the sun was setting, from le Pont des Amours, to the right side of the coast. I sat on one of the wooden boards and just watched the swans go by, as the colours of the sky were reflecting on the water. It was just the most perfect and peaceful set up.

Le Recto

Situated in the old part of Annecy, this wine bar doubles up as a restaurant. It has got a beautiful terrasse, perfect for some people watching, and the food is just top of the class (especially the dessert!)

Walk by the canals

The whole old city of Annecy is surrounded by Canals, that’s why the city is nicknamed the Venice of the Alps. The walks by the canals are beautiful and full of picturesque buildings, with cute little bridges cutting from one side of the shore to the other.

Auberge du Père Bise, Bistro 1903, Talloires-Montmin

If you want the best food with the best view, go to Talloires-Montmin. The Michelin starred chef Jean Sulpice took over the very famous Auberge du Père Bise in 2017 and also has a bistro that overlooks the lake. Best to book before!

Boat tour

During the day, after lunch, I took a boat that went all the lake, to capture all of the best sights. I was sitting outside on the deck, in the sun, and photographing these beautiful mountains plunging into the lake.

Brumes

I spent a lot of time reading my book in this cute little café (that does a great iced latte!). Slightly hidden from the main street, it’s just a little cocoon of peacefulness. Perfect little haven in all seasons.
