Naturist holidays by the sea

Often situated in unspoilt natural surroundings, naturist centres provide the ideal opportunity to get back to nature and enjoy a range of outdoor activities. It's time to head for the beach to soak up the sun and enjoy a full array of leisure pursuits!

In south-west France, the Euronat (External link) centre and Domaine de la Jenny (External link) are located in idyllic surroundings. Both places have direct access to the beach and offer numerous leisure and sporting facilities. At Euronat you can go horse riding, play tennis or take part in a yoga class. Ideally situated for surfing, the centre also has mountain bikes which can be used by guests. The centre organises cultural excursions to nearby sights of interest, offers walks in the surrounding countryside and has a full programme of keep-fit classes.
The Domaine de la Jenny (External link) does not have facilities for horse riding, however it does offer plenty of opportunities for swimming and playing golf, as well as stretching classes. Other activities here include boules, table tennis, archery and volleyball. And, of course, as the centre is by the sea, fishing and scuba diving are a must!

In the same region, the CHM de Montalivet (External link) is the largest naturist centre in Europe and is popular with holidaymakers of all ages. Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and two large white sandy beaches, the centre stands in the heart of a pine forest and is the perfect base for those in search of a relaxing holiday or more active break. Activities and facilities here include water sports, a well-being centre and spa, and a water park.
A particular feature of the centre are its sports competitions, which are always run in a fun and friendly atmosphere. As in the majority of these centres, many of the activities available, such as hiking and cycling, allow guests to explore the surrounding area.

At the Camping d’Arnaoutchot (External link) , in the Landes, only a large sand dune separates the campsite from the huge fine sandy beaches of the Côte d’Argent. A supervised beach allows guests to enjoy naturism in a safe environment, in addition to its swimming pools and spa treatment facilities.

From the Charente Maritime to the Camargue

The Centre de la Giraudière overlooks a 3km-long beach. With its surfing and bodysurfing classes, sand karting, kite flying and lagoons for children, this centre is perfect for adults and children alike. And as it's just a short hop from the Cévennes to the Camargue, pedalo enthusiasts might like to head to the Plage de l'Espiguette.

Languedoc Roussillon & Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

The Aful Aphrodite holiday village between Perpignan and Narbonne is a great base for exploring the Languedoc coast (External link) . Enjoy a relaxing holiday swimming and windsurfing in freshwater, or you might like to try windsurfing at La Grande Cosse, where you can test your skills in the local Tramontane wind. Another superb centre in the Gard is the Domaine de la Sablière (External link) , which is popular with young children, teenagers, families and adults. Also on the coast, the Serignan Plage Nature (External link) naturist campsite is situated in the Hérault. The many activities on offer here include beach volleyball, aqua aerobics, gentle fitness classes on the beach and horse riding - another fantastic location for adults and children alike!

The 2km-long beach at the Club Naturiste du Cap d'Agde is ideal for trying your hand at jet-skiing or scuba diving. Or you may prefer to stay at the Helio Marin Rene Oltra campsite (External link) , where you can head off on a boat trip in a delightful setting in between dips in the sea.
On the Côte d’Azur, the Bau Rouge and the Domaine d’Héliopolis in the Var are extremely popular with visitors. Situated near unspoilt coves, the Plage du Bau Rouge is a rugged beach which is well worth the walk it takes to get there. Divers will also enjoy exploring the promontories here. Lastly, the Domaine Naturiste d’Héliopolis, situated to the east of the Iles d’Hyères archipelago, stands in magnificent scenery and offers visitors all the usual relaxing beach and seaside activities.

Located less than 10km from the sea, the Centre U Furu in Southern Corsica is situated in unspoilt natural surroundings which are made for hiking and other outdoor activities. Also surrounded by beautiful natural landscapes, the Bagheera (External link) naturist campsite stands in the heart of a eucalyptus forest overlooking a secluded, tranquil bay. Midway between Bastia and Porto-Vecchio, Riva Bella (External link) boasts a thalassotherapy and well-being centre for naturists. The centre caters for families - those in search of rest and relaxation can use the hammam and jacuzzi, while sports enthusiasts can take advantage of a range of activities, including a sailing school, cycling and volleyball.

It should be noted that many centres organise activities for both naturists and non-naturists. Some offer themed evenings, discos, as well as libraries for those wanting to catch up on their reading, so there's something for everyone on a seaside holiday which is in full harmony with nature!
