Angers

Charming architecture, refined cuisine, renowned vineyards, festivals and monuments, superb parks and gardens... there are plenty of things to see and do in Angers (External link) . The old part of the town is mainly pedestrianised and many of the sites of interest are near each other, so you can do it all on foot. Flanked by 17 towers, Angers’ imposing château (considered part of the Loire Valley châteaux) is a focal point from which you can admire the magnificent view of the Maine River, and wander around beautiful gardens. The château is famous for its 14th-century religious artwork, in particular Le Tenture de l’Apocalypse tapestry, which is a staggering 103m long. The Saint-Martin collegiate church, town’s oldest, has undergone a 20-year restoration and is also worth a visit. Also don’t miss…
