Vignobles & Découvertes: Savoie, Lac du Bourget

The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.

Two destinations in Savoy have been awarded the label: Coeur de Savoie and Savoie, Lac du Bourget.

Destination: Savoie, Lac du Bourget

At the heart of a luxuriant setting and surrounding of the largest natural lake in France, the “Savoie, Lac du Bourget” destination offers visitors a visual feast of remarkable landscapes.

Vines flourish along the hillsides of the Haut Rhône and around the banks of the Lac du Bourget to give the unique wines of the Vins de Savoie AOC, including the Jongieux and Chautagne crus. This preserved natural setting offers a host of sporting activities in the great outdoors around a lake with turquoise reflections, a unique leisure site with a variety of attractions available.

Last but not least, leaving the Brison Saint Innocent wine region in a southerly direction, the spa town of Aix-les-Bains offers an idyllic setting for relaxation and well-being. This wine tourism destination boasts a rich personal, natural, rural and wine-producing heritage.

The “Savoie, lac du Bourget” destination offers a selection of 11 partner cellars open to tourists, 16 accommodation options and 8 restaurants serving traditional cuisine with set menus suggesting wine pairings.

Visitors will be welcomed by the tourist offices of Aix-les-Bains, Yenne and Chautagne as well as Savoie Mont Blanc Tourisme, our partner tourist centre.

Visitors will be able to discover key sites such as the town of Aix-les-Bains, the village of Chanaz, Hautecombe Abbey, the listed wine-growing site of Jongieux-Marestel and the Espace Vignesens, and will be able to enjoy a host of activities linked to wine available in several languages, along with events that highlight the region and its savoir-faire.
