Roanne Open Table Festival

About 60 miles northwest of Lyon, Roanne nestles on the banks of the River Loire. It’s a town which mixes gastronomy and culture – a winning combination which is clearly demonstrated at the Roanne Table Ouverte festival. This major event brings together 100 dinner shows which will take place in almost 50 restaurants. Join in from October 1 to 26 for the 2018 festival.

Roanne is proud of its gastronomy and nowhere is that more evident than at the Roanne Table Ouverte Festival. This October sees the 16th anniversary event take place and around 100 dinner shows will be held. Jazz, world music, classical, opera, cabaret... There’s something to please all tastes, and that goes for what’s on the plate too, with almost 50 partner restaurants participating in this gastronomic and cultural programme.

Stars and shows

Amongst the many events being held is the chance to experience the "cuisine of opportunity" created by star chef Thierry Fernandes of Le Prieuré at Ambierle. The dishes will highlight local products and the restaurant will host several concerts featuring authentic "chansons françaises" (traditional French songs).

Roanne’s artisans are also getting involved, they’ll be holding a tasting evening at Les Halles Diderot, the covered market, an event which heralds the opening of the festival. And, the closing party promises to be a veritable gastronomic journey for food lovers - without ever stepping foot outside Roanne.

More than 250 restaurants

Less than an hour’s drive from its culinary neighbour Lyon, AKA the gastronomic capital of France, the city of Roanne has forged a gastronomical identity of its own. There are more than 250 restaurants in the town, including three starred restaurants: Maison Troisgros at Ouches, Le Prieuré at Ambierle and Aux Anges, all located in the historic centre.
