The exhibition "The Morozov Collection", which was scheduled to open on October 14, 2020 at the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, has been postponed to be held September 22, 2021 to February 22, 2022. This is an exceptional worldwide artistic event, as this collection has never before been shown outside Russia.
After the Shchukin Collection, presented at the Fondation Louis Vuitton in 2016-2017, the Morozov Collection exhibition will be another major historical component devoted to the great Russian collectors of the early 20th century
The Morozovs and the Shchukins were the two main families who dominated Moscow's cultural life at the beginning of the 20th century, inventing the concept of artistic philanthropy in the city and thus contributing to the international recognition of French modern painters.
These beautiful collections of modern art, some of the best in the world, are distributed between Moscow and St. Petersburg. Before this exhibition, they had never crossed the borders of Russia since their acquisition by these renowned collectors.
Works of the most famous modern French and Russian painters
During the five months of its run, the exhibition of this remarkable collection of French and Russian modern art will be held in all the galleries of the famous Parisian museum, in collaboration with the State Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts and the State Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow.
The most famous French and Russian modern artists will be featured, brought together by the brothers Mikhail Abramovich Morozov (1870-1903) and Ivan Abramovich Morozov (1871-1921). Visitors will recognize masterpieces by Matisse, Bonnard, Picasso, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Degas, Monet, Renoir, Maurice Denis, Cézanne, as well as those by Vroubel, Chagall, Malevitch, Repine, Larionov, Serov and more.
These emblematic canvases of French Impressionist, Post-Impressionist and Modern movements as well as emerging artists of the Russian avant-garde form the body of works of this extraordinary exhibition, never before presented outside Russia.
To note: The Louis Vuitton Foundation would like to note that it has set up a special public reception system, in strict conformity to the government's health recommendations, in order to guarantee the safety and protection of visitors as well as of Foundation staff.
