With the sunshine strengthening and the days drawing out but the snow still powder-fresh, there’s no better time to visit the Alps. In the resort of Flaine, this shiny new season is celebrated not just on the slopes, but also in concert halls and on restaurant terraces with ‘Le Printemps de Flaine’ festival in March and April.
The series of events begins with classical music at the Flaine Auditorium from 12-14 March, featuring violinist Fanny Robilliard, viola player Marine Gandon, cellist Raphael Perraud and pianist Paloma Kouider. Enjoy a mixture of duets, trios and quartets in the evenings from 8pm.
From 16-22 March, there’s a vibrant après-ski scene with concerts in bars and restaurants as well as waterslide fun for children. The following week sees resident magicians performing expert sleight of hand on restaurant terraces from 23-29 March, adding some entertaining surprises to your evening drinks.
The second half of Le Printemps de Flaine continues the musical theme with al-fresco rock, pop and blues concerts every day from 30 March–5 April. The festival concludes with a week dedicated to kids – a multitude of free shows, games and workshops takes over the resort from 6-13 April, giving the adults time off to enjoy Flaine’s other assets, such as shopping and spas.
