Alpine World Ski Championships Courchevel Meribel 2023

France will host the Alpine World Ski Championships from 6 to 19 February 2023 in the famous resorts of Méribel and Courchevel. In the heart of the 3 Valleys ski area in the French Alps, the world's greatest skiers will have a playground to match their talent. It's an opportunity to experience the excitement of a world competition in an exceptional setting, or to get a taste of the atmosphere well in advance!

Méribel and Courchevel will host the Alpine World Ski Championships in 2023. The two most famous resorts in the world have won the favour of the International Ski Federation Council over Austria and the resort of Saalbach Hinterglemm.

The event promises a great moment of sport, emotion and festivities in the heart of two Olympic resorts used to major international competitions.

600 km of marked runs, 166 ski lifts, 35,000 hectares of nature

In addition to their know-how in terms of high-level hospitality, Méribel and Courchevel have an exceptional ski area in the heart of the world-famous 3 Valleys. More than the figures that speak for themselves (600 km of marked runs, 166 ski lifts and 35,000 hectares of nature), the two star resorts offer a real village life between authentic chalets to experience the art of living of the French Alps and Savoie.

They are also prestigious resorts, well known to mountain lovers who come from all over the world in winter and summer to enjoy breathtaking views and unique experiences. Courchevel is home to three establishments with the Palace distinction: the Cheval Blanc, the Airelles and the K2.

Family-friendly and festive (the nights can be as active as the days!), the two resorts will prove once again, on the occasion of the 2023 Alpine World Ski Championships, that they also offer the most athletic people the best conditions for their exploits. No need to wait until 2023 to come and play the champions in preview...

In Méribel, the Chaudanne district, renamed Medal Plaza, will be the epicentre of the Alpine World Ski Championships: drawing of numbers, medal ceremony, free concerts and shows in the evening with national and international artists (Vitalic, Ben l'Oncle Soul, Synapson, Feder...). The opening and closing ceremonies will be held in Courchevel where a second entertainment village will be set up in Le Praz. To keep the spectators waiting in the grandstand or in the finish line, artistic strolls, brass bands and street troupes are planned around the two competition sites, the Eclipse and Roc de Fer slopes. Finally, in order not to miss the first 25 seconds of the races, fan-zones will be set up around the slopes to allow skiers to enjoy the show without sacrificing a day of skiing!

Access to the competition sites

To ease traffic around the competition sites and limit the environmental impact of the event, the organizers are focusing on mobility by encouraging the 20,000 spectators expected to travel by public transport each day. Several shuttles will serve the resorts of Courchevel and Méribel from several towns in the surrounding valleys where park and ride facilities will be set up. Additional trains will also be chartered each day of the competition linking Lyon, Grenoble and Annecy to the nearest stations such as Moûtiers. It is also advisable to use the ski lifts.
