A Winter Voyage at the Palace of Versailles in conjunction with the Palais de Tokyo

For its tenth contemporary art exhibition, the Palace of Versailles offers a Voyage d’hiver (Winter Voyage) until 7 January 2018. A unique opportunity to experience seventeen works curated by the Palais de Tokyo in the context of Le Nôtre's famous garden.

Ever since 2008, the Palace of Versailles has hosted an exhibition dedicated to a French or international artist. Jeff Koons in 2008, Xavier Veilhan in 2009, Takashi Murakami in 2010, Bernar Venet in 2011, Joana Vasconcelos in 2012, Giuseppe Penone in 2013, Lee Ufan in 2014, Anish Kapoor in 2015 and Olafur Eliasson in 2016: all of these artists have created an original dialogue between their works and the Palace and Gardens of Versailles.

From the end of October, when the year’s Grand Eaux musical fountain spectaculars end, this Winter Voyage has provided an alternative perspective on the glory of autumn and the sparkling mineral quality of winter as the shrubberies of the Petit Parc have been reinterpreted in different ways by contemporary artists.

The Palais de Tokyo was invited to design this Winter Voyage in partnership with the contemporary art curator of the Palace of Versailles.
