Hiking
Corsica offers myriad walking opportunities ranging from gentle coastal walks to strenuous mountain hiking.
One example is the northern “Mare e Monti” path between the gulfs of Girolata and Galeria, continuing on to the Le Fango valley (a listed UNESCO Biosphere Reserve). Further south, ramblers can also enjoy the solitary landscapes of the Alta Rocca by following the “Mare e Mare” route.
Other unmissable sights include the Aiguilles de Bavella, rocky peaks rising to heights of between 1,200m and 1,800m close to the charming village of Zonza.
No mention of hiking in Corsica is complete without highlighting the famous GR20 long-distance footpath, a 200km route through the heart of Corsica’s mountain landscapes.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
The protected Cerbicales islands, the Scandola nature reserve (which includes both maritime and coastal landscapes and is a listed UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Parc Marin International des Bouches de Bonifacio are all home to extraordinary underwater treasures. Corsica’s many diving clubs provide plentiful opportunities to get close to a variety of reefs and to develop a basic understanding of marine biology.
Thrills and Spills
Corsica’s varied geography and topography makes it the perfect playground for a variety of outdoor pursuits, such as Via Ferrata in Solenzara, mountain biking in the Niolu valley, and rafting and canyoning.
