The wide range of landscapes and features of regional heritage invite you on these epicurean hikes. For example, you can follow the GR 65-42, which starts in Vézelay, a major sanctuary and jewel of Romanesque art, and pass through Nevers. This itinerary carefully retraces one of the original Saint-Jacques de Compostelle pilgrammate routes.
Bike Tourism
Many other paths or countryside routes allow you to cross the region's vineyards on foot, on horseback, or by bike. On the 20 kilometer route between Beaune and Santenay, you can find the legendary Protected Designation of Origin vineyards of Pommard, Meursault, and Montrachet!
Bike tourism is also blossoming near the Alésia region, by the Château de la Rochepot or the gorgeously authentic Brancion village. Morvan holds the national record for mountain bike sites under the FCC label (French Cycling Federation) with over 2,300 designated paths.
The Voie Verte - the first of its kind - linking Givry to Cluny (its abbey and national stud farm) promises the best biking for families: just like ancient trade paths, like the 180 kilometer long Canal du Nivernais!
