Nature and the outdoors

Be it on a cycling path in the Landes forest (External link) , on a boat on the Vassivière lake, on a hiking path in the Ossau valley or in a canoe on the River Vézère, you can feel at one with nature in New Aquitaine. Home to a million hectares of forests and over 17,440 square metres of parkland (one national park, four regional parks and two marine parks), there’s certainly enough outdoor space to go around.

Cruise along the tranquil waterways of the Marais Poitevin (External link) , France’s second largest wetland and often referred to as the ‘Green Venice’. Hike on the Millevaches Plateau (External link) , a tangled wilderness rising to 900m in altitude. And cycle or horse-ride through the Dordogne Valley, pausing at the numerous picturesque villages and historic sites along the way.
