Facing the large beach in Biarritz, the party is now day and night! The former Maona Beach discotheque has been reopened as a gourmet hall at the beginning of July and has been transformed into a new spot dedicated to epicurism in all its forms. Over 350 m² (3767 ft²), this convivial space exceeds expectations, mixing all generations elbow to elbow around a common objective: celebrating gastronomy, music and the artisans who contribute to perpetuate the unique way of life in Basque country.
At the heart of the concept, the central bar sharpens eyes and appetites. All around, six shops encourage a tasty tour of the culinary world where you can also pick up local specialties.
At Annabella, you can enjoy pizzas in the purest Neapolitan tradition filled with sheep’s cheese or the famous ibaïama ham, made from pigs raised in Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port. At Dezamy’s, the ice creams taste like the black cherry grown in Basque country, while the Cove invites you to taste Breton shellfish and crustaceans and smoked organic salmon in the region or tarama with Espelette pepper.
Playful reinterpretations of French dishes
As for the chefs who take possession at regular intervals of the ephemeral space, they have a mission to highlight the products of the terroir in their compositions between, culinary curiosities of Nicolas Stanzioni, the child of the country, and playful reinterpretations of French dishes by the Refectory team.
Still a bit hungry? The delicatessen offers its plank,s filled with delicacies drawn from the traditions of the hinterland and cooked by ancestral houses: foie gras of duck from Landes, sausage truffle or pâté de campagne with guindillas, these sweet peppers from the Basque country.
Still, there's nothing like dinner and a show! In the evening, the Grande rediscovers its primary vocation: dance on Tuesdays, Thursdays and holidays at the Wonder, the intimate bar where artists start the party with musical sets and unmissiable cocktails.
A place for all generations
Like its perfectly confected cocktails, La Grande also likes inter-generational mixtures. On Wednesdays, while parents sip an aperitif at sunset on the terrace or on Sundays when they enjoy brunch, the children are at work: making windmills or assembling and decorating marine animals, creative workshops inspired to keep toddlers busy.
