The high life
Take an exhilarating flight on the new Les Arcs’Zipline in Les Arcs . Whizz above the KL Slope, the setting of the world ski speed record in 2006 (251.4 km/h, Simone Origone). This thrilling high-speed zip line allow you to travel at speeds of up to 130 km/h, either on your own or as a pair. Once you land, you’ll receive a souvenir photo of your adventure – definitely one for Instagram!
In Valmorel, head to the top of the Altispace chairlift and take a 1.4km zip line ride to the slopes of Prariond. At 170m high, you’ll have superb views over the valley and reach speeds of 70 to 100 km/h. The ride is accessible to skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers accompanied by a guide.
For a gentler pace, step out onto the 10-metre glass walkway of the Pas de l’Aigle at the Pointe de Nyon in the resort of Morzine-Avioraz. At 2019 metres high, the views are no less breath-taking from the transparent walkway suspended above the slopes with a 360° panorama which takes in Lake Geneva and the majestic Mont Blanc.
Ice ice baby
Thrill seekers will love the new winter sport of speed riding which you can learn at
Les Arcs-Bourg Saint Maurice. Combine skiing with aerial sports and speed as you dive, glide, and slide down the slopes. You can also see a 200m2 ice cave decorated with monumental ice sculptures. And to finish in style, enjoy a chilled aperitif in an icy grotto.
An incredible 600 ice waterfalls are listed in the Oisans Massif which offers a chance to try the exciting sport of ice waterfall climbing. The weather dictates where you can enjoy this unique glacial experience, and whether you’re a beginner or skilled climber, the qualified mountain guides will lead you through beautiful tracks to discover this unusual sport.
Twilight to night-time fun
In Alpe d'Huez , just as the ski area closes and twilight approaches, take the last cable car to the top of Pic Blanc, at 3300m, it’s the highest point in the area. From here you will enjoy the most magical sunset views before skiing down the 16km slopes of the legendary Sarenne mountain accompanied by professional guides. Book in advance for one of the 10 sunset ski sojourns planned this winter.
Take a night hike in Chamrousse 1650 where from 6pm to 10pm a 3km multi-activity route provides access to the Croix de Chamrousse, which was awarded the Best Ski Touring Route during the Ski Touring Trophies in 2019.
Electric bikes offer the chance to discover more of the mountains at night. In La Plagne, you can enjoy supervised 100% electric snow bike rides under a moonlit sky. In Grand-Bornand Noct’e-Bike offers a brand new 90-minute mountain night-time bike ride. And in Maurienne, in Albiez-Montrond, take a guided e-bike ride in the dark.
Relax and revitalise
A holiday in the French mountains offers the perfect opportunity to relax and unwind. With a plethora of wellness activities, take a revitalising spa break in many of the resorts. The Bains du Mont Blanc in Saint-Gervais Mont-Banc offers a sensory trail for the feet, the perfect treat after a ski session.

Health measures in ski resorts 2021-22: what to expect
From 4 December 2021, the pass sanitaire (health pass) is required by everyone aged 12 and over:
-For air, inter-regional train and coach travel to resorts
-To access ski lifts
-To access ski schools
-To enter bars, restaurants and cultural venues
-To enter nightclubs and late-night bars
-To access certain accommodation where there is a restaurant, fitness area or swimming pool.
It is not required for entrance to shops (including equipment hire shops) and tourist offices.
Face masks are compulsory while queuing for lifts and on board lifts (neck warmers accepted), and when indoors or in outdoor gatherings at ski schools – but not while skiing.
