Activities for all in the French mountains

Take an exhilarating flight on the new Les Arcs’Zipline in Les Arcs (External link) . Whizz above the KL Slope, the setting of the world ski speed record in 2006 (251.4 km/h, Simone Origone). This thrilling high-speed zip line allow you to travel at speeds of up to 130 km/h, either on your own or as a pair. Once you land, you’ll receive a souvenir photo of your adventure – definitely one for Instagram!

In Valmorel, head to the top of the Altispace chairlift and take a 1.4km zip line ride (External link) to the slopes of Prariond. At 170m high, you’ll have superb views over the valley and reach speeds of 70 to 100 km/h. The ride is accessible to skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers accompanied by a guide.

For a gentler pace, step out onto the 10-metre glass walkway of the Pas de l’Aigle at the Pointe de Nyon in the resort of Morzine-Avioraz. At 2019 metres high, the views are no less breath-taking from the transparent walkway suspended above the slopes with a 360° panorama which takes in Lake Geneva and the majestic Mont Blanc.

Thrill seekers will love the new winter sport of speed riding (External link) which you can learn at
Les Arcs-Bourg Saint Maurice. Combine skiing with aerial sports and speed as you dive, glide, and slide down the slopes. You can also see a 200m2 ice cave decorated with monumental ice sculptures. And to finish in style, enjoy a chilled aperitif in an icy grotto.

An incredible 600 ice waterfalls are listed in the Oisans Massif (External link) which offers a chance to try the exciting sport of ice waterfall climbing. In Alpe d'Huez (External link) , just as the ski area closes and twilight approaches, take the last cable car to the top of Pic Blanc, at 3300m, it’s the highest point in the area. From here you will enjoy the most magical sunset views before skiing down the 16km slopes of the legendary Sarenne mountain accompanied by professional guides. Take a night hike in Chamrousse (External link) 1650 where from 6pm to 10pm a 3km multi-activity route provides access to the Croix de Chamrousse, which was awarded the Best Ski Touring Route during the Ski Touring Trophies in 2019.

Electric bikes offer the chance to discover more of the mountains at night. In La Plagne, you can enjoy supervised 100% electric snow bike rides under a moonlit sky. In Grand-Bornand Noct’e-Bike offers a brand new 90-minute mountain night-time bike ride. And in Maurienne, in Albiez-Montrond, take a guided e-bike ride in the dark.
