A tête-à-tête with three ski aficionados

The Alps Mont Blanc is a winter destination known for its sports, panoramic vistas, delectable Alpine food, and of course, the most iconic peak- Mont Blanc! We spoke to three travel experts specialising in FIT luxury travel from the Indian trade fraternity to share what they think of the French Alps.

Q1. What do you love about the French Alps?

Devrath Sagar, Director and Proprietor, Pangea Travels

A - I’ve skied in Italy, the United States and in Gulmarg, India but the infrastructure of the French Alps is unlike anything I’ve seen. Megève and Courchevel were completely different ski towns; Megève has an intimate, homely vibe, while Courchevel is more luxe. It was nice to visit two unique ski towns that were just two hours from each other.

Karan Vakharia, Director- Business Development, Pathfinders Holidays

A - The breathtaking mountains, alpine forest, little villages and the crystal clear lakes makes the French Alps a beautiful place for tourists to visit. If you are a fan of cheese, wine and chocolates, the French Alps are perfect for your family holiday.

Faisal Siddiqui, Director, Fourways Travels Pvt. Ltd.

A - France has a diverse ski area. Méribel (External link) as a ski town, is very central. You can ski into Courchevel, Saint Martin or even Val Thorens for the day and come back! France has amazing food. Even up in the smallest of villages, you can easily get halal and vegetarian food, for those who would like to opt for it. Since the instructors are French, they are familiar with the local towns, and experiences, and that really helps you as a visitor. There are also lesser-known ski resorts that are beautiful and affordable.

Q2. What is the best outdoor activity you enjoyed doing?

Devrath Sagar, Director and Proprietor, Pangea Travels

A - I loved skiing. It was slightly more varied in Courchevel, whereas I found that Megève was more laidback, and better for beginners.

Karan Vakharia, Director- Business Development, Pathfinders Holidays

A - Skiing and snow sledging.

Faisal Siddiqui, Director, Fourways Travels Pvt. Ltd.

Ski!

Q3. Which ski resort would you recommend to your clients and why?

Devrath Sagar, Director and Proprietor, Pangea Travels

A - It would depend on the client’s profile. The quality of luxury services is impressive in Courchevel and so I would recommend Courchevel to my high-end clientele. I would recommend Megève to a group of friends and larger families.

Karan Vakharia, Director- Business Development, Pathfinders Holidays

A - Hôtel Le Kaïla - Méribel

Faisal Siddiqui, Director, Fourways Travels Pvt. Ltd.

A - I prefer Méribel because it is centrally located and gives you access to multiple ski locations. People would mainly visit France for its ski, its food, and après-ski activities.
