France at the heart of the stakes of Expo Milan 2015
“How to ensure sufficient, qualitative, healthy and sustainable alimentation for Humanity?”
This is the central theme of the universal exposition 2015 hosted in Milan where France will have the opportunity to bring some partial answers and feed the debates based on scientific assets and economic arguments.
A piece of France will be moved to Milan in Italy from the 1st of May to the 31st of October 2015. The French Pavillion will have both a ludic and informative vocation, enhanced by scenography in accordance with the theme “Feeding the Planet/ Energy for life”. The theme represents well the identity of France, as it is tied around its traditions – including France’s world-famous gastronomy.
Technical and scientific potential
In Milan, the presence of France will be the occasion to show how the country possesses a strong technical and scientific potential, suitable to participating in a sustainable and healthy alimentation model based on 4 pillars:
- Explain how science and technology can help in creating worldwide food self-sufficiency.
- Produce more and better.
- Promote cooperation and innovation transfer policies.
- Without forgetting the emphasis on pleasure linked to nutrition, a facet that lies at the heart of French preoccupations.
Promoting local produce
The French are known for their regional specialities and their willingness to use fresh local produce. UNESCO have picked up on that and recognised the simplicity and importance of the “French meal” which is registered the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
