APRIL  2012

  •   "Titanic", return to Cherbourg – La Cité de la Mer – from 06/04
    100 years after the most publicized sinking of the century, La Cite de la Mer opens a unique path in France over 2500m ²: ‘Titanic, Return to Cherbourg’. Visitors will be immersed in the history of European emigration to the New World. They will go along the reconstructed hull, will go down alleyways and will meet the passengers and crew. Using these interactive devices, poignant and authentic testimonies, they will relive the Cherbourg - Queenstown - North Atlantic crossing to the sinking.

MAY 2012

  • "German Prisoners in Cotentin 1944/1948" - Liberation Museum - from 05/05 to 25/11
    From 1944 to 1948, 39,000 German soldiers were held captive in the Cotentin, in often difficult conditions. This exhibition tells their story.
  • "Henri Cartier Bresson and Paul Strand in Mexico"- The Point du Jour - from 13/05 to 02/09
    The exhibition at the Point du Jour presents the photographs of two masters of photography, Paul Strand (1890-1976) and Henri Cartier Bresson (1908-2004), taken during their trips to Mexico in the 1930s.

JUNE 2012

  • Reading by Jacques Perrin - The Cité de la Mer - 29/06
    The actor Jacques Perrin, director of the film Oceans partly shot in the Cité de la Mer, comes back to the old transatlantic terminal for an evening reading, highlighting stories of passengers and testimonies from the legendary liner’s stopover.

JULY  - AUGUST 2012

  • Show "embarked on the Titanic" Every Friday in July / August
    The cruise from where you might not return ...
    The dramatized nautical visit will take place every Friday in July and August from 7 pm to 8.30 pm - Bookings at the Tourist Office of Cherbourg Cotentin.
  • "Summer Visits" - From 01/07 to 31/08 at 2.30 pm
    These visits organized by the Tourist Office of Cherbourg-Cotentin are free and narrated by guides
  • Exhibition « Passager » - Cherbourg - from 4 to 26/07
     Espace culturel Hippolyte Mars (from tuesday to sunday 14/18 pm)
  • Solitaire du Figaro – From 10 to 15/07
    After 2000, 2002 and 2010, Port Chantereyne will host the final stage of the Solitaire du Figaro from 10 to 15 July and for the 4th time. The regatta is true to Cherbourg-Octeville with nearly a dozen stages in the Cotentin over recent years.  With already over 30 skippers registered, the 2012 edition of the Solitaire du Figaro promises a great show from Paimpol (Côtes d'Armor), on 24th June, to succeed the winner of the last edition, Jérémie Beyou.
  • Titanic Nights – 3 and 4/08
    The great show of the summer which will be given on the trade pool in Cherbourg from 23h. Water screens and walls of light, this vast pyrotechnic fresco will evoke music and light, the story of the only French stop of the Titanic.
