Welcome to Epernay

Located in the heart of Champagne, only an hour and a half from Paris, Epernay is just waiting to be discovered. The city is best known for its majestic Avenue de Champagne with its locally-producing Champagne houses, as well as 110 kilometers of tunnels beneath its streets full of Champagne cellars.

Epernay is perfect for all kinds of trips - for couples, family, nature-lovers, and even business trips, offering a wide range of activities for everyone.

Since July 2015, the Avenue de Champagne has constituted one of the key elements in the "Hillsides, Houses, and Wine Cellars of Champagne," listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Epernay, a City with Turbulent History

Historically, Epernay has been burned, pillaged, and partially destroyed more than 25 times over the course of its life. However, even if the city only preserves a little of its past, it is still home to some of the most beautiful hôtels particuliers of the eighteenth century.

"Epernay, it's the city of wine in Champagne. Nothing more, nothing less." - Victor Hugo, (Le Rhin, July 21, 1842). The simple style and pure vocabulary suffices to describe the nobility of Epernay and its precious nectar, a delight for epicureans from all over the world.

The Champagne Road

Ideally located at the crossroads of some of France's most beautfiul vineyards, Epernay is the point of departure for three different Champagne Routes. Perfect to discover on foot, by bike, or driving in an eco-friendly electric car!

The Champagne Road is full of top-quality accomodations - in hotels, charming bed and breakfasts, or even castles. Delight your tastebuds with the Road's amazing restaurants, known for its regional cuisine and world renowned chefs.
