The French coast is rich in traditional craft skills and expertise. Come and meet some of our local producers and artisan food makers and discover a little of the real France.
The first stop on our culinary journey gives wine-lovers the chance to find out how the wines of the famed AOC Cassis vineyards are made and to sample the dry and fruity white wines they produce.
Next, we travel to Saint-Jean-de-Mont on the Vendée coast for a guided “Histoire de Gourmandise” walk around the local market, showcasing the smells and flavours of the local “cuisine montoise” through a series of stories and historical anecdotes. What could be more authentic? You will also discover some little-known regional dishes including brioche vendéenne and bignaïe, a thick crêpe topped with bacon, known locally as the “marsh pizza”.
To round off our culinary wanderings, we head for Cabourg, a town on the Normandy coast, where the Pâtisserie Dupont has earned numerous awards for the excellence of its particular speciality, the madeleine. A visit not to be missed for fans of these light and succulent, shell-shaped little cakes!
