The breathtaking inventory of the French mountains!

The figures concerning French mountain activities are staggering. France leads the world in skiing facilities, with:

  • 357 ski resorts in 7 mountain ranges (representing 8.93% of the worldwide total).
  • The total skiable area is 1,180 square kilometres (455 sq. miles)
  • This includes 8,000 kilometres of ski slopes and 3,731 lifts (18% of the worldwide total, according to Domaines Skiables de France).

These eloquent figures confirm that France is truly the largest skiing realm in the world. As well as not only being the largest, it is also the most varied. You will not only find authentic village resorts and vast ‘ski-everywhere’ complexes, but also a wide range of nature activities such as snow-shoeing, dog-sledding, climbing, zip-lining, and more!
