Mâcon, the ideal break on the way to your winter Alpine destination
The Mâconnais, lying in the eastern centre of France in the very South of Burgundy, is the perfect distance from the Northern Alps ski resorts for a gastronomic break in your journey. Whether you are skiing in the Portes du soleil, the Grand Massif , les Aravis or the Chamonix valley, you are only 2 hours away by car on autoroute 40 (direction Geneva).
The A43, 40 minutes South of Mâcon, takes you to Chambery and on to the Tarentaise Valley with the 3 valleys, espace Killy and Paradisky.
Mâcon and its vines offer an original place to break your journey during the winter.
Why not try it and discover its 5 crus: Pouilly-Fuisse, Pouilly-Loché, Pouilly-Venelles, Saint-Véran, Viré-Clessé, and the Mâcon appellations followed by the name of the commune of origin (Mâcon-Prisse, Mâcon-Versé). The region offers a huge selection of wine tasting centres, wine producers, museums dedicated to wine and the vine and specialist and cooperative wine shops.
On a very clear day, looking out from the famous Solutré rock to the East, it is possible to catch a glimpse of the White Lady: Mont Blanc
