The Jura wine route
The Jura vineyards produce wines full of character which are the perfect accompaniment to the local cuisine. For almost 80km, from Arbois to the southern Revermont region, this tourist route wends its way through wine-producing villages, passing through varied landscapes where the famous Vin Jaune (a sherry-like wine) and Vin de Paille (a sweet white wine) are produced, alongside a range of red and white wines with lots of character.
Explore this picture-postcard region of sunny hillsides and impressive steep-sided valleys by horse-drawn carriage, mountain bike or hot-air balloon, taking in sights such as waterfalls, caves, historic churches and stunning viewpoints. The rich heritage, spectacular sites, fine regional cuisine, and excellent accommodation, expertise and enthusiasm of local inhabitants all contributed to the region being recognised as a "European Destination of Excellence" in 2008.
