Follow Toulouse-Lautrec's trail in the vineyard Gaillac fr

You can walk past the typical Albi townhouse where Toulouse-Lautrec was first brought up. It’s tucked away in a quiet corner of town, but close to an array of good restaurants and small, central hotels.

Fortified Castle of Mauriac and Château de Salettes are two châteaux in the Gaillac vine-growing area were both once properties of the Toulouse-Lautrec family. The first, in the hands of the artist Bernard Bistes for the last 40 years, can be visited. The second still a winegrower property and was turned to a beautiful **** hotel with a Michelin stared restaurant. To own a wine-making property was always a tradition in the Toulouse Lautrec family. His mother was born in the Château de Celeyran near Narbonne and bought the Château de Malromé near Bordeaux were Lautrec died. Both were before all wine-making properties. It was the same with the Château de Salettes in the Gaillac area. The Château de Salettes still an excellent wine-producer and has just received 3 awards for its wines in the competitive examination of the Agricultural Show 2014 in Paris.
