Spring time in the Bastides takes place in a wide range of the walled towns throughout the Bergerac region (Issigeac, Monpazier, Bergerac, Beaumont du Périgord, Lanquais, Le Buisson de Cadouin, Lalinde…). It includes cultural and artistic events that celebrate diversity, and the differences and similarities between the people of the world and their respective cultures. These events promise to take you on a journey of discovery through their different flavours, crafts and forms of artistic expression with a host of get-togethers and special moments: shows, concerts, cinema, storytelling, exhibitions and debates to name but a few.

The “IN”: 2 evenings of concerts with a high class line up concentrating on the biggest and most current names. This festival was created in 1952 and is an important event in the cultural life of the Périgord. Classical plays take place in the heart of the medieval centre of Sarlat. More than 20 plays are performed during the three weeks of the festival.

6th Maquiz’Art Winter Festival in Eymet
From November 2011 to April 2012
“Off”, Maquiz’Art’s winter season dedicated to jazz and Afro-Latin music, is already a favourite destination for fans of jazz, samba, bossa nova, world and improvised music. This year, Maquiz’Art is delighted to announce a bill of internationally renowned artists including Flavio Boltro guesting with the Melody Players, Chicago saxophonist Ernest Dawkins taking time out from a mini tour of south west France, and Anne Pacéo.

30th MIMOS International Mime and Physical Theatre Festival in Périgueux
From 31 July to Saturday 4 August 2012
Created as a homage to Marcel Marceau, who lived in the Dordogne in his youth, the Mimos Festival aims to regenerate the image of this traditional art form, showcasing new and innovative mime genres from the cutting edge of visual theatre, contemporary dance, light shows, live art and new circus. The largest festival of mime in Europe (along with its counterpart in London), it is the only event of its kind in France.
