Best Value Golf

Whether you are looking to experience golf at the foothills of Europe’s widest stratovolcano, tee it up amid the rolling hills and valleys, or play on the Atlantic coast, France has a wealth of golf courses that offer a unique experience throughout the year, without breaking the bank. We have selected 3 courses, all with green fees under €60, for you to enjoy.

Golf International de la Preze, Charente, near Dordogne – Don’t let the beauty of the course distract you from your golf

The 18-hole international-standard course is dotted with lakes, with 12 of the holes featuring water, most spectacularly on the par-3 second hole, which requires golfers to hit to an island green. Set amid rolling hills in the south-west of France, the venue also boasts an 18-hole pitch and putt course, driving range and two putting greens.

Where to stay:

Domaine de Bellac, a complex of seven gîtes or Le Chat, which is a holiday village.

Golf International d’Arcachon, Aquitane – Golfers will be inspired to play their best within the natural setting

Situated on the edge of the bay of Arcachon and close to Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe at over 110 metres above sea level, the Golf International d’Arcachon enjoys an exceptional location. The course, set in a forest of maritime pines, mimosas, oaks and evergreen strawberry bushes, is undulating on the front nine and slightly flatter over the back nine but with a number of water hazards.

Where to stay:

Thalazur Arachon is a relaxed hotel with a wellness centre and Villa les Buissonnets Hotel has 13 individual rooms.

Vire - La Dathée Golf Club, Lower Normandy – Enjoy the scenic surroundings and admire the natural beauty of the area

Bordered by oak and beech trees on one side and Lake Dathée, stretching beyond the horizon, on the other, you have to be careful not to let the beautiful surroundings distract you from your game.  Not long by modern standards, the technical course features strategically placed water hazards and subtly sloping greens that will demand your respect.

Where to stay:

Hotel Saint Pierre is situated only 15 minutes from the golf course
