4 Gourmet Experiences in the French Alps

Winter ski stations certainly aren't lacking for gourmet cuisine. Taste your way through this path of Michelin-starred meals in yurts 2,000 meters above sea level - this season, don't miss these mountain-summit gourmet experiences.

On the Slopes of Michelin-Starred Restaurants

The Brides-les-Bains Office of Tourism has concoted an irresistable offer for gourmet sports lovers. During your stay, take a break for lunch at these three Michelin-starred restaurants in the Trois Vallées area: Le Farçon in la Tania (1 star), Le Chabichou (two stars), and L'Azimut Le Praz (1 star) in Courchevel. Relax your feet and indulge your taste buds.

A Gourmet Lunch at the Mountain Summit

In Val d'Isère, the Relais & Châteaux Le Savoie offers a lunch at the mountain summit prepared by Alexandre Fabris, chef of his own gourmet restaurant. This must-see experience involves a walk in snow shoes, accompanied by a tour guide, to access the restaurant, located 2,000 meters above sea level on the Plateau de Tovière. There, a yurt awaits with your meal, made up of a velouté (cream soup), an appetizer, a main entrée, and a dessert of your choice.

La Folie Douce Wins in l'Alpe d'Huez

The gourmet, festive restaurant that's already won hearts in Val d'Isère, Val Thorens, and Méribel is opened in Winter 2016 in the Iséroise station. The location includes the La Frutière restaurant, whose menu - designed by two-Michelin-starred chef Christophe Aribert in collaboration with Yann Tanneau - uses the very best local products and ingredients. On the terrace, the successful formula hasn't been changed: clubbing and cabaret provide a colorful atmosphere every afternoon. Opened in December 2016.

Dinner in a Yurt

Don't miss out on this gourmet experience in snowshoes, where you'll sled by night to La Rosière, a ski station in the Valée de la Tarentaise. The path descends down to the Mousselard yurt, where a delicious Savoyard meal awaits alongside a roaring fireplace. Returns in minibus.
