Nancy 2013, Renaissance Effect
Following on from the success of Art Nouveau (1999, The Year of the École de Nancy) and the values of the 18th century (Nancy 2005, Age of Enlightenment), the spotlight will turn to the Renaissance for this year’s Renaissance Nancy 2013 event. This period has been chosen for its significance in the history of the Lorraine region and its similarities with the era in which we now live.
A journey through time from past to present
Shining the spotlight on this little-known but remarkable heritage will reveal a path spanning times past and future. More than a hundred special events of all kinds and open to everyone will take place during the event from May 4 to August 4, 2013.
Nancy, Pont-à-Mousson, Toul, Bar-le-Duc, Saint-Mihiel, Marville, Vic-sur-Seille, ... and their remarkable Renaissance heritage are associated with the event!
Great opening day
Nancy 2013, Renaissance Effect will be officially launched on 4 May 2013. From sunset until late at night, this multidisciplinary event will fill public spaces with the works of a huge range of artists and performers, all aiming to present something unusual and thought-provoking.
Visual, audio and choreographic artists will be working together to offer alternative visions of the world to a public that is both spectator and actor, immersed in successive, resolutely modern worlds, with an emphasis on environment, heritage and creation.
