"Lascaux III, international exhibition" in Bordeaux
This exhibition will be presented in world premiere and only in France at Cap Sciences in Bordeaux, before beginning a tour in the biggest cities in the world. Monumental, interdisciplinary and interactive, the exhibition offers visitors a unique, informative and intense experience.
Lascaux III, international exhibition invites visitors to discover, feel and understand a major site of Paleolithic art on 700 m² of exhibition space.
From Lascaux I to Lascaux III
- Lascaux I, original cave discovered in 1940 by four teenagers and a dog near Montignac (Dordogne) was closed in 1963 for his backup.
- Lascaux II, a replica of almost 80% of the frescoes was the only alternative, since 1983, receiving approximately 250,000 people per year, a few hundred meters from the original site.
- With Lascaux III, the visitor is immersed in the darkness of the nave walls reproduced to the nearest millimeter, with five facsimiles of frescoes part of the cave never reproduced.
