Japanese artist Takashi Murakami explores the magic of painting
Learning the Magic of Painting
On a more poetic note, Takashi Murakami is as inspired by the modern Manga universe as traditional Japanese sources such as the main figures in Buddhism, or the 12th century Zen painted scrolls, and more recently the works of Francis Bacon. The result, on display at the Gallerie Perrotin, is a personal dream world that is born of a complex artistic and spiritual journey, filled with hypnotic and cosmic imagery. Behind the cute “Kawaï” style, the artist himself admits to “still learning the magic of painting”.
