Christmas lights and markets

For two months, from mid-November to early January, towns and villages in France are decked with lights to mark the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
At this time of year, traditional Christmas markets are set up on the main squares of towns across France.

In a warm, friendly atmosphere where scents of spices mingle with the heady flavour of mulled wine, visitors can find a whole host of arts and crafts, traditional decorations and typical products from its different regions.

Magical fairy tale

Monuments, squares, parks, Christmas trees and façades are all decorated for the occasion, and streets adorned with Christmas lights offer visitors a magnificent spectacle as they explore the town. In larger towns and cities, the windows of department stores are transformed into magical fairy tales full of real enchantment.

Here, special events are often organised (temporary installations and entertainment) which will delight children and adults alike.
