Bordeaux River Festival invites the Solitaire du Figaro race
This edition of Bordeaux River Festival will have a whole new dimension. Among other innovations, the festival will be welcoming one of the most famous and prestigious international singlehanded sailing competitions: La Solitaire du Figaro (Bordeaux to Dieppe by way of Roscoff).
The race will leave from Bordeaux – for the first time in its history – on Saturday, 1 June after an eight-day celebration. In fact, the River Festival will not last two days as it did previously, but all during the week preceding the departure of the race, a "village" will be set up along the quays between the reflecting pool and the pont de pierre. This will provide an opportunity for the public to meet the some forty skippers who will be anchored at the main landing stage.
There will also be a nautical exhibition to promote the Gironde department's expertise in building pleasure craft and other nautical equipment. Also planned: talks, special events, tastings, and a photographic exhibition along the quays!
In addition, boat excursions will be offered to discover unusual facets of the estuary.
Swim across the Garonne
The fifth edition of the Traversée de Bordeaux à la Nage goes from the new landing station on the Left Bank to the Bastide landing station on the Right Bank on the Sunday, 2 May. More than 450 swimmers will take part in this unique event!
