Destination: Vignoble de Chablis
In the middle of the French département of Yonne, the destination “Vignoble de Chablis” extends over a dozen kilometres around the village of Chablis.
Listed as one of the “sites remarquables du goût” (quality label for gastronomy), Chablis is considered as the gateway to Burgundy’s treasure-house of wines because its vineyards have been producing the world’s first white wine since Early Middle Ages. Around Chablis, on about 4,500 hectares split among 20 villages, Chardonnay is the grape variety of all great Burgundy white wines and reigns supreme.
Less than two hours from Paris and right next to Auxerre, charming villages and white-stoned houses are scattered through this hilly landscape of vineyards, characteristic of the region. The limestone soil provided the people material to build with, and with each harvest, it shapes the quality and uniqueness of the Chablis wines.
The destination “Vignoble de Chablis” offers a selection of around 40 professionals who will share the multiple facets and authenticity of Chablis and its land with you, including tasting sessions, wine-related heritage, walks in the vineyard, local gastronomy and entertaining moments as well as charming accommodation and restaurant addresses. It’s a beautiful way to discover this unique region of Burgundy.
