Vignobles & Découvertes: Angers Loire Valley
The Vignobles & Découvertes label aims to provide quality services and visits catering to wine tourism. The label appeals to a customer base that appreciates the world of wine without necessarily being connoisseurs, and offers a range of quality services: accommodation, cultural sites, leisure activities, cellar tours, restaurants, exploration of natural spaces, events and more.
Eight destinations in Loire Valley have been awarded the label: Val de Loire, Amboise - Val de Loire, Chenonceau - Vallée du Loir - Chinon, Bourgueil, Azay - Saumur, Val de Loire - Vallée du Layon - Muscadet Loire Océan - Angers Loire Valley.
Destination: Angers Loire Valley
Situated in the heart of the Loire Valley, destination Angers Loire Valley is the 3rd largest wine producing region in France. With hillsides and freestone, vines and slate, rivers and preserved villages, Angers Loire Valley is a land of discovery that reveals some of secrets of the legendary Anjou gentleness and of the Loire vineyards.
Angers, the capital of Anjou, is listed as a city of art and history with its impressive château and its two-tone towers. On the edge of Angers, Savennières AOC, Coteaux de l’Aubance AOC and Anjou-Villages Brissac AOC are among the most prestigious appellations of the Ligerian wine-growing area. As many wines to discover as flavours and colours: iridescent colours, delicate aromas of red fruits, fruity and floral hints.
Visitors will be able to discover, at the heart of the vineyards of Aubance, the Château de Brissac, the Loire Valley Giant, owned by the Cossé Brissac family since 1502.
Major highlights of the destination include a vineyard tourist route, fine gastronomy including suggested wine pairings as well as meeting with the men and women who work on and around the vines and learning from their savoir-faire.
Angers Loire Valley offers a selection of 14 cellars, 10 restaurants, 21 accommodation choices, five sites such as Terra Botanica, the first theme park in Europe dedicated to plant life, as well as 3 tourist offices.
