Rendez-vous in Saint-Gildas-des-Bois
Halfway between Redon and St. Nazaire, on the Nantes-Vannes axis, and adjacent to 2 departments (Ile et Vilaine and Morbihan), Saint Gildas-des-Bois has all the advantages of a small town.
The center of the town recalls the origins of the city. It is dominated by the abbey church of the 12th century and an ancient abbey, an impressive architectural ensemble home to the community of the Sisters of Saint-Gildas-des-Bois. Listed as an historical monument, the abbey church became in 1994, the 3rd church classified as such in the department.
The present name of the town originates from the pine forest planted under Louis Philippe.
