Here at the museum you'll see an array of artisan products from canoes and wicketery to coco rasps and a variety of fine shell items. Explore the rich culture of the windy islands through these fascinating objects.
Will you be able to identify the variety of bird species from the taxidermy displays on show? As well as the impressive array of bird species exhibited, you'll also be amazed by the vast herbarium and the remarkable mother of pearl collection. You can also have a look at the diverse fauna and flora that inspired famous painter Paul Gaugin, who sailed to French Polynesia to escape European civilization.
There is a 4 hectare park belonging to the museum. Come and walk the paths - enjoy the variety of botanic delights such as palm trees, the Tiaré flowers and other polynesian wonders.
