Rendez-vous at MuséoParc Alésia 21150 Alise-Sainte-Reine fr

MuséoParc Alésia: History brought back to life !

The Interpretation Centre constitutes the first component of the MuséoParc Alésia, a major cultural project implemented by the Conseil Général of Côte-d’Or.

The Interpretation Centre’s exhibition spaces offer a lively, interactive presentation of the siege of Alésia. Ancient objects and reproductions, diaporamas, films, models, multimedia terminals and reconstructions of instruments of war present visitors with the keys to understanding the history of the site. Various activities are also offered, intended both for children and adults. The visitor is plunged into the heart of the combat, encountering the impressive reconstruction of the Roman lines of fortifications. A full-scale immersion!

The second component of the MuséoParc complex will be located on Mont-Auxois, not far from the statue of Vercingetorix that was erected in 1865 by Aimé Millet. It will be composed of an Archaeological Museum (planned for 2016) linked to the remains of the centre of the Gallo-Roman town and an archaeological centre intended for researchers. Organised around collections and the ancient infrastructures revealed by the excavations, it will show the succession of cultures and civilisations on the site since Prehistory. The organisation of the Gallo-Roman town and the way of life of its inhabitants - habitation, commerce, crafts and religion - will be given pride of place.

The MuséoParc offers a unique opportunity to explore this period of our shared history and to discover a multi-faceted landscape. Decide whether you are Gaul or Roman, solve the enigmas of the history of Alésia, untangle myth from reality, imagine the scale of the fighting... The MuséoParc leads visitors in the footsteps of Vercingetorix and Caesar. Various activities, lasting from thirty minutes for those in a hurry to a whole day for those who prefer to linger, are intended both for adults and children: workshops, guided tours, craft reconstructions etc.
