Unmissable sights in the Sartenais Valinco Taravo region

Campomoro tower stands on the southernmost point of the Gulf of Valinco in the village of Belvédère-Campomoro, 8km from Propriano.
Dating from the late 16C, this Genovese tower took just one year to complete and is now a listed historic monument forming part of the network of towers surrounding Corsica which once protected the island from Barbarian invasions. The largest of the towers built along on the coast, it boasts unusual star-shaped ramparts. The tower has recently been restored and now houses a permanent exhibition highlighting the history of its construction.

Propriano’s parachuting site

The Valinco school at Tavaria aerodrome near Propriano (70km from Ajaccio and 13km from Sartène) has an excellent reputation. Are you looking for a destination which combines sunny beaches with stunning mountain scenery? The comfortable facilities and lively atmosphere of a seaside destination alongside the charm and authenticity of hill-top villages? A region rich in cultural sights and traditions which also offers superb leisure activities?

Musée Départemental de Préhistoire Corse et d’Archéologie de Sartène
This archaeological museum houses some of the most characteristic prehistoric exhibits from the island, which date from the 8th millennium BC right up to the Iron Age at the beginning of the Roman period. Exhibits include weapons, jewellery and vases, as well as stone tools and menhir statues – a total of 250,000 objects on display. This museum is an excellent complement to the major megalithic sites situated in southern Corsica.
