Rendez-vous at the Cour des Senteurs in Versailles 8 rue de la Chancellerie 78000 Versailles fr

A historical, sensory and poetic visitor trail in the heart of the royal city

An emblematic place in the history of perfumes in France ever since the 18th century and home to the Institut Supérieur International du Parfum (Isipca), Versailles is still today the meeting place for the world’s greatest perfume creators.

Versailles hosts the Cour des Senteurs, bringing together in one place the rarest fragrances and traditions, savoir-faire and primary materials which go to make up the world of perfume.

Situated just 100 metres from the Palace of Versailles, the Cour des Senteurs is open to all and incorporates an original concept designed as a sensory trail enabling visitors to discover the art of perfumery.

The Maison des Parfums is an interpretation centre designed by the architect and scenographer Philippe Pumain in collaboration with the perfume historian Elisabeth de Feydeau. It opens onto the Jardins des Senteurs, designed by the landscape architect Nicholas Gilsouland consisting of a series of cabinets of curiosities introducing visitors to the language and favourite materials of perfume creators as well as botanical collections and shrub walks through the theatrical world of fragrances.

The Place des Senteurs, at the hub of the Cour, will be home to four of the great names in French luxury:

  • The new Guerlain boutique unveils a totally new concept in which its traditional expertise and history are combined with the output of artistic and creative professions
  • Lenôtre offers its Chef’s latest sweet and savoury collections: chocolates, pastriesand other creations thanks to which it owes its worldwide reputation
  • Diptyque presents a unique and delicate range of fragrances for the home, designed inthe form of an ode to gardens and to fine primary materials
  • The Maison Fabre features its designs which take their inspiration from the tradition of glovemakers and perfumers

For all those seeking to extend this stroll through the world of refined taste, the Cour des Senteurs and its garden can serve as a new and original cross-city trail leading to the oldest part of Versailles with its arts and crafts galleries, the Tennis Court that was the setting for the famous Oath, and the Royal Kitchen Garden.
