Rendez-Vous at the Castle Museum of Tournon-sur-Rhône
The Castle-Museum of Tournon-sur-Rhône stands majestically on its rock like a colossus. At its foot, there is a maze of narrow streets leading tothe historical center of the town with medieval origins.
From its foundation in the 11th century and up to the 17th century, it will remain the property of the Tournon feudal lords who will restore it munificently according to architectural styles. Built on a defensive basis, it will be enhanced at the beginning of the 16th century to become a Renaissance style residence.
Then it will be replaced by a museum, refit in 1980, that develops varied themes: on a first floor, we get to know better the dynasty of Lord of Tournon history, fine arts, arts and techniques.
The Castle Museum (Musée de France) also benefits from "Vignobles et Découvertes" and "Cap sur le Rhône" labels.
