The Baie de Somme is the 10th "Grand Site de France"
The Baie de Somme, in Picardy, has been labelled as "Grand Site de France®", on last Friday June 3rd.
The Baie de Somme is a mix of landscapes and striking natural environments on a territory shaped by men. It is also a territory of big spaces, large beaches, bird reserves and resort stations. The Baie de Somme, large space of soil and sand, is a site where water is omnipresent.
From Saint Valéry-sur-Somme to Cayeux-sur-mer going through Le Crotoy, its heritage is striking and varied : urban and monumental, seaside and rural.
Known for its landscapes and its natural environments, the Baie de Somme offers a lot of services to visitors in coherence with its natural vocation. Being a real ecotourism destination, it welcomes each year about 2 million visitors !
About the "Grand site de France®" label
In order to recognise the quality of management and conservation of an area, the government has put in place the "Grand Site de France®" label. This label, very exacting and now registered in the environmental code, is managed by the Department in charge of ecology and sustainable development.
