Day 1: The Mediterranean: You are welcomed at Narbonne railway station. Dinner and first night in a Guest House surrounded by vineyards and local flora, with vistas of the lagoons.

Day 2: From the Roman province of Narbonne to the Canal du Midi: Via the "Anse des Galères" and the Canal de la Robine arrival at Narbonne. Free visits of the Horreum Museum, the Archaeological museum of the Palais des Archevêques, and the Roman Pottery Museum. The charming hamlet of Somail (which was a postal barge inn during the 18th century), which has an antique bookshop. The Ventenac aqueduct, the Répudre canal bridge, and entry into the Minervois vineyards. Dinner and accommodation in a winery.

Day 3: Wine transport on the canal A visit of Minerve, a Cathar stronghold. Homps, which used to be a trade port in which barrels of Minervois and Corbières wine were shipped to Bordeaux. Passage of the Jouarres aqueduct, the Argent-Double outlet, the Orbiel canal bridge, built in 1686 and designed by Vauban. A series of spillways, aqueducts and outlets lead you to Carcassonne. Dinner and accommodation in a three-star hotel on the banks of the canal.

Day 4: The Citadel of Carcassonne: Guided tour of the counts’ castle, and then you may freely wander around the prestigious medieval citadel and its 52 towers. Lunch in the Citadel. Visiting the Arnouze aqueduct and the Foucaud outlet. Dinner and accommodation in a Guest House in the centre of the village.

Day 5: Going towards the inlet channels: Going towards the inlet channels. Visits of the bookish village of Montolieu, Saissac and its Cathar castle. Visit of the Lampy Basin, a man-made reservoir that feeds the Canal du Midi. Descent via the inlet channel and the Lampy. Suggested visit of an abbey. Dinner and accommodation in the same Guest House as the previous night.

Day 6: Romanesque art in the Lauragais region and in Castelnaudary: The Mezuran and Tréboul aqueducts, and a visit of the Benedictine abbey at Saint-Papoul. Visit of Castelnaudary, the capital of the Cassoulet (the Cugarel mill, the collegiate church…). Return journey to Narbonne by train.
