Mirambeau Castle***** 1 Avenue des Comtes Duchatel 17150 Mirambeau fr

Between land and sea

Located between land and sea, at the crossroads of the vineyards of Bordeaux and  Cognac, Château de Mirambeau is the ideal residence to discover and share the flavours of this famous region, the Poitou-Charentes.

Cognac, the hometown of François the First, will unveil the secrets of preparation of its famous nectar, invented in the 17th Century and you will also be able to discover Bordeaux and its fabulous vineyards as well as its impressive historic heritage.

Halfway between these two cities, set in a well-known wine region, our elegant Renaissance-style castle stands at the heart of a beautiful 8-hectare park and boasts an indoor and an outdoor pools as well as two tennis courts.

Entirely refurnished with sumptuous fabrics, antique furniture and crystal chandeliers, this grand residence with its 22 rooms and suites expresses an "art de vivre à la française", between dream and reality.

One of the most fascinating feature of the castle is the Cognathèque, a room dedicated to wine and cognac tastings, ideal to relax during the evening.

The Château de Mirambeau was built on the site of an old medieval fortress. From the 11th Century onwards it was attacked many times, passing regularly back and forth between French and English hands. It finally became a French possession in the 15th Century.

Badly damaged after several sieges, destructions and fires, that is around 1570 that the present neo-Gothic north wing was built.

The castle was purchased by a family from Lorraine in the beginning of the 18th Century before finally becoming state-owned after the 1789 Revolution. In 1813 the domain was sold to Count Charles Nicolas Duchâtel who completely rebuilt the

In 2002 the castle was once more completely renovated and refurbished with the best of care and attention to convert it into one of the most marvelous French Relais & Chateaux. In 2011, the castle was sold to Sorgente Group.

Château de Mirambeau is inviting you to dive into a rich past of art and history and experience a unique atmosphere
