A centre in Hérault, ideal for discovering Languedoc-Roussillon

The Centre Hélio Marin René Oltra is a large campsite located at the Cap d’Agde in Hérault, to the south-east of  Béziers, a few kilometres from Agde, an ancient city at the junction of the  Canal du Midi (classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site) and the Mediterranean sea.

Over 39 hectares, 100 m from the naturist beach, there are 2,524 campsite pitches, bungalows and mobile homes, suitable for couples and families with children and/or teenagers.

You will have a large choice of cultural activities, sport or simple relaxation, which will be presented to you in the “Agora” area, with the opportunity to visit a wellness centre located nearby.

Languedoc is full of treasures so you will have to choose where you visit!

A visit to Agde is a must, with its Greek relics, streets of shops, religious monuments (including the  Saint-Etienne cathedral and Saint-André church) and its Ephèbe museum, in which this famous statue is on display. Battles on boats - a great local tradition - are organised on the Hérault river.

An excursion to Montpellier is a must: as well as its pedestrian streets and shops, the capital of the region is a city which is constantly on the move (both architecturally and culturally - with the Fabre museum fully renovated - and numerous international festivals), not forgetting Béziers and its religious heritage, Nîmes with its amphitheatre, its Maison Carrée, its Carré d’Art, and nearby, the famous Pont du Gard, which now also houses an exhibition space.

Hikers will appreciate the lakes in Bagnes, lagoons bordered by the Canal du Midi, with the Pic Saint Loup in the background (where you can also go for walks). There you will discover beautiful fauna - including pink flamingos - and unique flora in a site with the “Natura 2000” classification.

People who love vineyards will be spoilt for choice between the Saint-Chinian vineyards to the north of Béziers; Minervois, from the foothills of the Montagne Noire to the Canal du Midi and the Languedoc vineyards between Nîmes and Narbonne.
