Rendez-vous in Sarreguemines 57 sarreguemines fr

Sarreguemines Confluences: earthenware & leisure, the country of encounters.

Quaint and charming town at the convergence of the Saar and the Blies between two biospheres recognized by UNESCO (Regional Park of the Northern Vosges and Bliesgau), Sarreguemines enjoys a privileged location between France and Germany.

Did you know?
When you hear Sarreguemines, you think about mines?  Well, look elsewhere! Its etymological Germanic origin (Gemundis then Gemundia) means "confluence" and indicates the meeting of the rivers Saar and Blies at Sarreguemines. Over time "Gemundia" evolved into "Gemünd" then "Saargemünd" and finds its final name by a derivation of the local dialect "Saargeminn". Today the word "convergence" is used in the plural to mean also the meeting of two cultures, two countries, two languages, urban and rural, industry and nature.

Sarreguemines won an award in 2011 at the EDEN contest on the theme: Tourism and converted sites, and was able to highlight its rich historical, industrial and artistic heritage related to pottery. Living "bi culturalism" in everyday life, it is located near Saarbrücken, one of the outstading cities of the Euro region, Saar Moselle, a multicultural and dynamic region of 620,000 inhabitants where an attractive atmosphere reigns.

Get away to an out-of-the-ordinary town and discover its hidden treasures of one of the European tourist Destinations of ExcelleNce in France.
